Many older adults experience concerns about falling—sometimes leading them to limit daily activities and social engagement. But the truth is, while falls can be serious, they are not an inevitable part of aging. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program specifically designed to help older adults manage the fear of falling and increase physical activity safely and confidently.

This evidence-based program emphasizes practical strategies that empower participants to stay active, improve balance, and take charge of their well-being.

What You’ll Learn:

Participants in A Matter of Balance will gain    valuable skills, including how to:

  • View falls as controllable, not inevitable
  • Set realistic goals for increasing activity
  • Identify and make changes at home to reduce fall risks
  • Perform exercises to enhance strength and balance

Who Should Attend?

This program is ideal for:

  • Anyone concerned about falling
  • Anyone who has fallen in the past
  • Anyone who has limited their activities because of fall-related fears
  • Anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility, and strength

When & Where:

Join us  on Thursdays in September, beginning Thursday, September 4th, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM in the Activity Room. This is a free and informative program, Please pre-register by calling the Senior Center at 617-471-1000 x107.
